The Last Burma Star

Marking the 80th anniversary of VJ Day, explorer Levison Wood and historian Alex Bescoby set out on a journey to retrace the footsteps of Levison’s grandfather who fought in the Burma Campaign, a brutal, frequently forgotten chapter of the Second World War. Uncovering the huge but often overlooked contribution of Commonwealth soldiers, their journey takes an extraordinary turn when they discover a 100-year-old veteran, still living in Burma, now Myanmar, who never received his Burma Star medal. Against the odds, they set out to deliver it – along with a remarkable message from King Charles III – before it’s too late.
