Conquistadors: The Stories: Barbara Bouman (Archive Researcher and Translator)
Highlights on Conquistadors:
I loved travelling to Trujillo in Extremadura, a town which seems to have changed little in the last 500 years - crumbling palaces built by the Conquistadors on their return from the new world, women who speak of Pizarro as they would of a lover, policemen who ask for your word as your bond and then grant permission for anything, coquette nuns who change their slippers for an interview and the ever present storks whose heavy nests have caused many roofs to collapse. I won't forget the many special people there who aided and abetted us.
It was also very moving to read the words of the people who were actually there to witness the Conquest.
Worst Moment
Being refused filming permission in Valladolid despite pre-arrangement and having to get help from Rebecca...
Best Moment
When help came from Rebecca 10 minutes later in the form of a phone call from the Spanish Ambassador in London
