Conquistadors: The Stories: Ray Sinatra (Location Manager, Programme One)
We were crossing one of the most difficult passes that Cortez and his men had encountered I was rearing up a group of 14 horses and pack mules and Michael was leading his horse just in front of me when deluge began. At some 1700 meters above sea level and climbing when it rains it gets cold quick. The whole group came to a halt so that we could put on our rain gear and we continued Michael put on a fancy looking jacket and the rest of us put on mangas (plastic coveralls average price 8 pounds).
The rain kept coming down harder each time as we climbed further up and there was absolutely no place to take cover, at one point were we had to slowly cross a swollen river with the horses I went to check on Michael because I knew he had been suffering from a cold for a couple of days and this did not seem to be the best weather for him. I thought I had found Michael talking to himself and was worried until I listened closely and he was imitating a London shop clerk "Ah yes of course it is water proof" and then go into "this piece of ^$#&^%^ is no more water proof than that $%$&^% salesman knows the first ^$#^%(^) thing about the %&^%)* he is selling." Well we finally made it to the top of the pass and then the excitement began.
